Assalamualaikum.
Greetings.
Well something struck my mind in 'bilik termenung' just now.
Quoting Safiah from AKN, while 'answering nature call' we can get brilliant ideas and punchline.
*i wonder if that happen to comedian in Maharaja Lawak Mega
Okay back to the scene.
When i was being interviewed for a job recently, the interviewer ask about my hobby. So when i am answering reading, she ask about my favourite book and genre.
I answer i just read all types of book, depending on the writer.
Then she insist of 'how come you dont have a genre of interest?'
Well, in my heart i just answer 'yes, i dont have that'.
But in my mouth i just answer 'well i like non fiction book'.
*i swear until now i regret my unknowledgement about the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
Okay lets not talk about the interview. It is full of twisted fact because at that time seriously i am a bit sleepy *nervous plus hungry
So maybe if anyone ask me again i would answer,
'i dont have genre of interest. i read all books. and it also depends on the writer'
yes, i would stick with the same answer but with a little more confidence.
reading all material does not show i am a bookworm that can tell facts from cover to cover of academic books during my school or university days . i read when i like it, and i did not even peek at it when i am not interested. so my like and interest is depend on how interesting the style of writing or what exactly the message in it. and that ladies and gentleman, depend on the writer.
I read Nurul Syahida novels, blog and would even excited to read her status in facebook but i dont read her teens novels.oh, because i am a broken, poor teenagers.
I read Ramlee Awang Murshid books because he is so into thriller and mystery but i can't read all his books because it's too many. i only borrowing his books from library and friends (repeating the facts that i am broken to buy all his books).
I read Hlovate novels but am not willing to read his quote books (because seriously you just can read it on her/his facebook account). same case. borrow.
I read Nadia Khan novels, but I only extract few point from her Gantung's novel.thank god i did not own that book or it will be nightmare if i read it again.
I read Shaz Johar just because he like to referring woman as slut (i resent, hate that kind of human fyi), but you just can't denied his point of view. also borrow.
I read Hamka Kereta Mayat because he's funny despite of being too much 'exposure'. And he's realistic and a bit religious.
So what genre do we have here?
Love stories? I can't take most of Alaf 21and Kaki Novel 's novels with twisted storyline and non-realistic fact. I found Imaen boring but i admire his idea and really like all his ranting about social issues or general knowledge. I found Ratu Bulan novels are so into Taiwanese drama and fairytale but i like her sense of humor and realistic storyline.
Thriller and mystery? I trust someone ( a writer) and buy his book just because it has good title and synopsis but once i read one chapter, i quickly read the final page. Failed! So just stick to RAM.
Science fiction? Well i only like (probably the only i read) is the book titled 'Ombak Sfera Lotus' that i read during my schooldays. The only science fiction book that i can read again and again.
Comedy romantic? No, non of the writer i listed above do comedy romantic even i love that genre (for movies especially). So i nominated Sophie Kinsella as the best writer for this kind of book. Yeah my english is not so good that i could only finish reading her novels (she is using simple, 'bahasa pasar' english fyi, that's why i can understand).
Not only book, i read poem. yes, i do adore some of the poem i learn from schools (english in literature subject i mean_well yes, don't be so arrogant because i got C during SPM). the poem about war Dulce et Decorum Est (that i think suit Saving Private Ryan movie_because that the only war movie that i dont feel pretentious).
I like Shakespeare story of Hamlet (or is it a play?) and the story behind poem Life Brief Candle. Oh, not forget the RAM in english novels, Roald Dahl.
So dear interviewer, i rest my case
In a nutshell ; "aku ni introvert jadi aku suka baca buku. dan aku hanya baca apa yang aku nak. dan kadang-kadang aku terpengaruh dengan orang untuk baca sesuatu buku. tapi aku ambil masa untuk baca buku yang aku tak biasa dengan gaya penulisannya atau penulisnya. aku hanya baca and beli sesuatu buku yang worth utk dibaca ulang-ulang, bukan that klise love story problem yang tak realistik. tapi kalau kau nampak aku baca maknanya aku tengah boring la tu"
me trying to understand my own judgemental. failed.
